The Revd Wyn Beynon

The kingdom is not when we've got it right
the kingdom is falling down a hole

The kingdom is not when we've fed everyone
it's when, flat on our backs, we see the view for the first time

The kingdom is not when we finally get it organized
it's when we stand on the rake and the handle swings up and cracks us on the nose

The kingdom is not when we get the point
it's when the point gets us and we yell out in recognition that we’re home.

The kingdom is not when we've set the prisoners free
it's when we realise we are the prisoners, and we're free to go

The kingdom is not the beginning, the middle or the end
it's centred everywhere and bounded nowhere

The kingdom is not justice
the kingdom is righteousness, which is something else entirely

The kingdom is not doing
the kingdom is peace, which is pregnant space

The kingdom is not travelling hopefully
the kingdom is joy in the Holy Spirit

For the kingdom of God is not food and drink but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
